A PR company I worked for had one of the major Japanese electronics companies as a client (UK bit of it) - I went to a couple of the meetings - as we drove off my colleague suggested I look around - the team we dealt with were all stood outside their building bowing at our departing car. In truth I don't like this sort of over formal "manners" whatever the culture - it says nowt.
