Cheers everyone, looks like a few tweeks, a bit more at the gymn and more miles.

I have already arranged to get another fit tomorrow.

I think I need to forget the "Hybrid" thought?

Thanks

It's early days yet, in terms of the mileage you have put in. Consider changing the stem if it doesn't improve after your re-fit.

I'm a newbie to biking only been riding 3 months, I really was not sure which bike would be suitable for my needs being that comfort was high on my list although I wanted something with some go. I eventually bought a Marin Toscana cycle cross from my LBS and asked them to fit 28 slick road tyres in place of the factory "slightly knobbly" tyres and raise the stem for a more relaxed riding position. For road use I have found this bike superb and very comfortable plus it gives a good turn of speed also the purchase price was reasonable. I'm 52 years old and same weight as yourself. Hope this is of some help.

Thanks for the tip, how many miles do you do and what would average speed be?

I am not a speed mearchant but don't want to drop below 16mph if the bike is heavy. My current average is 17.8 mph.

Many Thanks

I'm trying to build up my distances, I started at 6 miles, then graduated to 10, 15, now up to 20 miles. I know this is far from world beating but I'm going at my own pace.

Under normal conditions I ride along at about 14 to 18mph (this is not average, this is actual speed read) with a good headwind I find this drops to 10mph. Down hill anywhere between 24 to 32mph, yes 32 was scary the first time but great fun!

The Marin Toscana has an Aluminium frame with carbon forks, the top tube is not too long therefore you do not have stretch to far for the drops. The saddle is very comfortable and the bike is nice and light.
