Cetainly not overtraining. Check your diet out, and also go see the GP. Another one who says it may by Thyroid here, or indeed vitamin d and or b12

Sounds like overtraining to me.

Sounds like paranoia to me.

Thanks everyone for the help!
Just to clarify some points:

- I've been cycling for about 6-7 years now. I'm not a champion but not unfit
- I think I eat pretty well, lots of vegetables, fruits, a lot of carbs and fish/meat 2-3 times a week. Always porridge at breakfast (or muesli sometimes) and not many sweets (maybe one small chocolate per day). I'm about 3-4 kg above my perfect weight.
- I have to say that I'm feeling pretty tired more recently. This could be caused by a very long cough I'm struggling to put behind me
- Also, in the recent years I started to notice that when the spring starts, I always fell more tired than normal. I read somewhere that this is becoming more evident in our society where we don't rest enough especially during the winters.

Yesterday I was reflecting about my progress and I see that I didn't really improve a lot.
My last 40 miles was with a average of 16mh. not much better than I was able to do one year ago.
I have to say, that every time I go out I do my best, so I'm never really cruising on my bike^_^
Next big ride, I'll try to keep the average a bit lower, so to check if I can make more miles without being so tired.

BTW yesterday night I ate less than usual (I woke up very hungry), I slept less (about 6.5 hours) but today I'm feeling better:eek:

I'll check the vitamins intake...my doctor don't seem to give blood exams too easily. I've asked once for a normal check up and the answer was "we don't normally do blood check ups if you are not unwell or above 50s" :cursing:

Any doctor who won't react to a cough until it's 3 months old is clearly on a work avoidance program, ask to see a different one or a different practice.

Yeah..she told me "it's normal, it can last 3 months"

Maybe time to change doctor? ^_^
My 'cough' almost killed me, and it only took about 3 weeks! The first GP missed the warning signs and just gave me anti-inflammatory drugs to ease the pain caused by relentless coughing. Eventually I collapsed and a second GP suspected clotting, which is what I turned out to have.

I'd ask to see a different doctor!

I suffered from a lot of fatigue after coming out of hospital. Somebody suggested taking vitamin B complex so I thought I'd give it a go, and it seemed to work for me. It could be that I was just recovering from the clotting pretty quickly. I don't think it was a placebo effect because I was sceptical that the supplements would do anything.

B complex is cheap (3p a day or less if you shop around - try Sainsburys) and doesn't seem to cause interaction problems with any prescription drugs that you might be taking, so it is worth a punt.

Along with Colin, my cough lasted several weeks, leading to a couple of months to my shame...and regret, I had pneumonia. Extreme tiredness as well. Of couse the chances are you HAVNT got anything serious, but i dont think id be happy with your doctors response.
TBF, i suspect most of us have had your tiredness sometime or other , I know I have. Winter blues ?..something I usually suffer from as well.
16 mph average, thats not hanging about. A few years ago (at 45) that was my average, I wanted to up it. One season of REALLY going for it, I raised it to 18 and was flying.....then I got sick of driving myself into the ground..I actually wasnt enjoying it.
I think we all aspire to be fitter, but sometimes the enjoyment is lost getting there.

First, thank you all for the suggestions.
I did go to the doctor a couple of weeks ago and she (a different one) still recommended to just wait.
I have to say that now the cough is almost definitely gone and I fell much more lively

PS: the doctor measured the blood pressure and said that 144/90 was "normal"
Luckily I have my own tool and it's more normal 120/90ish
