This subject came up in CTC's NewsNet or CycleClips or whatever they're calling it now. Members only, though, I think.


There's a thread on the CTC forum too. It's a different scenario though - fatigue failure in an alu steerer tube level with the headset top race.

Ive come to the conclusion that im safer with my torque wrench and full carbon forks than I am with my other bike which has carbon fork blades bonded to an alu steerer of which the steerer thickness is 2.5mm.

Would seem there is as much if not more to worry about with carbon forks bonded to an alu steerer than a decent pair of full carbon forks ??.
