Altura Rain Jackets

I've had two Night Vision jackets, the original and then the Evo. Not really been happy with either- a problem with the zip on the first one, sticking all the time, and on the Evo, as has been mentioned, the Velcro wrist seals have both come off after one winter's use.

So I've given up on Altura, and with a winter's commuting approaching,have ordered an Endura Luminite from Evans, where it's currently a good 25 quid cheaper than I've seen anywhere else, including all the usual online suspects:-

Better jacket. Haven't had any issues. Washed and that. Stick with endura and forget the alt stuff.

I lkie Endura, but gave up as I have always had the seam sealing tape come off after about eighteen months

tbh altura endura stuff is made to last a bit then go. Many reports I see theres an issue so maybe their construction and design methods need looking at rather than the construction of their next extension plan

Past two winters I've been more than happy with my Gore Phantom. Technically it's a soft-shell windstopper - not a water proof. But I've used it in all weathers, it's shower-resistant enough and breathability is good. I only ever need a jersey and base layer under it. Wiggle have it slightly over budget at £104 but when I got mine I shopped around - can't remember where - and found it for £95. Might have been Alpine Bikes.

what is the sizing like on those ? I normally take a large in clothes, XL is too big. Found that jacket for under the ton?

i use a night vision evo , only because first night vision i had started leaking badly after 2 years , when questioned Altura claimed it hadnt been washed and that was why .

once i questioned them again re it had already been replaced once before as a lot of the reflective stickers came off in the first couple of weeks , they replaced it again , dont think i would buy one again in a rush

The Gore sizing is OK I've found, no need to size up like some Italian stuff (eg. Castelli). If you're a large just go for a large.
