"I'm the same, having to take 2 pairs of gloves to work as the long finger ones are too much for the way home but lovely in the morning."

I use a pair of silk glove liners, worn under my fingerless mits.

They're ideal in the "inbetween" temps of autumn, and even stay warm when wet. At £5 a pair from Decathlon they're not exactly expensive either.

I wear these on the Sunday runs when its chilly http://www.cyclestor...&categoryID=211 I also have the summer cruisers for when its not to cold. When I'm commuting I just wear my work trousers.

I have worn Ranchsliders now for the last year, they are brilliant and wearing very well after over 3,000 miles. Very comfortable, breathable and I use them all year round. I wear with padded under shorts. Cool in the summer, warm in autumn/spring and I add a merino base layer in the winter. Velcro strips on the ankles, but look like normal trousers so you can wear them down the pub without looking a plonker.

Not cheap but given they are the only cycle trousers I wear, well worth the money.

I've noticed that I'm in an annoying 'middle ground' with my hands at the moment. A little too cold for fingerless gloves in the morning, but full gloves are a bit extreme.

Mountain biking full finger summer gloves are fantastic - mesh fingers keep just enough of a stationary air layer to keep your hands from getting too cold but without the overheating of actual winter gloves.

Well, funnily enough the morning after that comment the full fingered gloves were a must, and have been since!

FWIW, I wear mtb full-fingers all year round - Fox Sidewinders from a few years back seemed to work quite well even in really cold conditions, tho' they've changed the design so the lycra-snagging velcro's on the inside of the wrist

Interesting re the DXB bikesters, last ones I bought were some years ago... tho' I still think I'd prefer close fitting, rather than a little looser and trust the water-repellancy (plus the bib adds a little more warmth). Come to think about it, I bought some tracksters recently to change into at work, dunno what they've done with the sizing 'cos my old ones are a pretty close fit, new ones are definitely a bit baggier.

(Come to think about it , what I could do with is something with windproof material over the hamstrings and mebbe knees, there were a few days last winter when they were suffering a bit on the recumbent...)

The Altura winter cruisers have arrived and I have to say they look like they'll be a cracking investment for the cold commutes.
Fleecey on the inside, little bit of reflective and much more stylish than the Bikesters I have been wearing.
Slightly tighter fit than the Bikesters IMO I just about squeeze into a Medium in those, bought the large in these and they are spot on.

I have a pair of those Winter Cruisers also. I stick my lightweight trousers or waterproof over-trousers on top. They are really good.
