Mmm. I'm a bit wary of mph figures (although they're great for comparing your own performances). I did a route last Thursday 8 seconds quicker than my best time but using my GPS. The GPS had it at 14.4 miles, my old bike comp had it at 14.8. Needless to say I was going 0.5mph faster using the old comp. :-(

Guess it proves that using the same tool to compare is the only way hont. The accuracies will vary upon the plethora of gadgets. One thing I notice is to wave willies and show a faster time I coudl pick a flat route and get 17mph over 22 miles yet when I choose the monster hilly rides I dip as low as 13mph over the same distance..

Absolutely. With the GPS you don't have to re-calibrate if you change tyre size or swap bikes, so you know you're comparing apples with apples. It's just a pity it shows me going slower :blush:.

Well I use my phones gps and it shows moving time and still time which may explain that discrepancy. However even though it is a rough statistic I dont think 0.4mph is really slower. That could be say getting caught at an extra traffic light for a while for example.
