The frame's plenty upgradeable, have a look on line and get a decent groupset and wheels. keep it, don't think you'd get £300 for it.

I got a 2008 allez and it's great, I can't fault it in any way TBH.

I have Zert inserts splattered all over forks, seat post etc - the new one makes no mention of this so I wonder what they have done cos they do work.

Buy the Spec and you will fall in love and it will piss all over your Giant.

But do keep the Giant as a spare - I've now got 3 ( and no more shed space!!!)

I have a 1998 Allez with 105 GS, still going strong after 10 years !!

yeh the 09 allea doesnt have the zertz, but its got a curved toptube based on the tarmacs design... so i think thats this years selling point

the curved top tube looks wicked

They havent put it on this year. If they had put the zertz in, combined with the curved toptube (which does look awesome) the bike would probably look more like a pinarello.
Do the zertz actually work though?

Yes, I have an allez 27 I use for commuting and my elite for dry days and jaunts and the difference is marked.

I thought it was marketing hype but it really isn't.

really... i might go for the 08 model then, though, the 09 model does have the 105 groupset instead of the tiagra on the 08.

If your budget is around £1000 why not consider a Roubaix? Full carbon and more comfortable to ride over longer distances

The 09 will be yes but there will be deals on 07 and 08 models

roadiewill - my local LBS ( spec dealer) can do an 08 Roubaix for £300 less than list price.... message me for details. I know it's a way from you but they will deliver if your sure of frame size.
