I don't know him or who he is, but I can empathise with him! My parents came from a working class background, working extra shifts in t'mill and down t'pit to send me to a public school! 🧐 I'm so grateful to mummy and daddy for keeping me away from those comprehensive 'educated' types!! I'm the chap in the middle being mocked by vulgar comprehensive riff raff, circa 1975.🧐

I ocassionally see Armstrong on Pointless if we put the telly on early to watch the six o'clock news. He seems to be a pointless sort of presenter. Given the money he earns I feel he should simply suck it up and pay the extra.

There's an interesting paragraph in the report:

"Armstrong hit out at the negative stigma surrounding private schools, adding: “Our 10-year-old has special educational needs. He couldn’t survive in the state system. We have chosen that, not because we’re evil, and not because we want to buy a head-start for our children, but we want them to have as good an education as we can get."

I can't imagine anyone would lie about this. One of my sons had a Statement of Educational Needs. This was 30 years ago. Achieving an SEN in the 90s was very difficult, one really had to know how to play the game. As I understand it today having an SEN only entitles one to additional support. I think the equivalent to the support my son received is now an Education, Health and Care plan. From what I've read EHCs are extremely difficult to achieve.

While Armstrong might come across as an entitled k*** I fully understand his choice to use private education in these circumstances. In his position and if I had the money I would make the same choice.

Hes the most insincere talent vacuum I've ever come across, even worse than Letitia Dean.

That aside, I fear the withering and mighty wrath of the mods when they view the opening post. They stalk the forum like hungry velociraptors and when they pounce they disembowel the unwary with their mighty talons of mod-ness!

Or Clare Balding!!

This.

Now I don't think for one minute that the great British media might have taken his comments out of context, surely they'd never do that, but if he is genuinely hard up then he needs some serious advice on how to manage his finances.
