I've just bought the Aldi light today.... brilliant light, ranging from a long narrow beam stretching about 100 mtrs, to a large rounder beam for close up , and as it slides you can have it anywhere between. The 3 modes work well, with just a soft touch on the on/off button to change. And no need to worry about acidentally turning it off whilst changing modes, you need to push harder on the button to do that....... 10/10 from me . Oh yea and comes with a 3 yr warranty . go get 1 before they sell out .

What is the "automatic SOS flashing function". Does it flash SOS or just flash?

Lois and I are using these on our Urban bikes, and have experienced absolutely no problems with them. So far we have both got over 15 hours out of the Duracell 3 X AAA used in the front lights, which detach quickly from the mount to use as a torch.

I've been having this light turned on a lot in the mornings recently, as it is getting darker. Yesterday a woman commented on how bright my front light is! Great in my opinion.

I've just picked one up from under a pile of Christmas tat in my nearest and cheapest: it flashes a dot dot dot dash dash dash dot dot dot but then there's a gap in between. So it's effectively off for over a second. Probably not a life or death issue but a constant on-off flash would be preferable. I'm going to stick mine on my lid and use the constant narrow beam so I can point the beam at wing mirrors or directly at the driver to avert left hooks. 3 of them in 20 miles earlier today, 2 forcing emergency stops from cars that had just passed me or were still passing me. It's left-hook Wednesday out there.

Just got one from Aldi - bright little bugger. Be useful for MTB helmet light and general very bright torch. Useful to be able to angle beam.

I rigged one onto the top of my helmet for last night's ride using a very road-weary old tube. It seemed to do the job well without blinding oncoming drivers and cyclists (well, no one flashed me or shouted at me...) using the least focused setting and it was nice to note that I could direct the beam at potential hookers. It seemed to work. Well worth it for £10 and an old tube. Oh, and I can look down and see how slow I'm going!

How does it compare to the Hope's Foss? Level 2?

I'll check tonight.
