Be interested in hearing how you get on in cages as thats what I have currently. My trainers aren't that wide though and haven't really struggled with them before.
Gonna pop to aldi tomorrow with fingers crossed. Well there are 3 or 4 aldi shops that I can get to fairly easily.

They are known as clips.
Sorry not the best photo I have ever taken.

I hate to disappoint but I bought the brown rugged looking MTB style spd shoes from Aldi when they had their cycling special in April. Sadly the shoes only lasted a month. The cleats kept coming loose no matter how hard I tightened them and then the cleat plate set into the sole of the shoe split away from the rubber. This was quite dangerous as it was difficult to unclip from the pedal without removing the shoe. Needless to say this was the end of the shoes.

I now have Shimano 2014 RT82 Sport Touring Road Shoes (£63) which I can't fault. Comfortable to cycle in and comfortable to walk in and much more scope for fine adjustment.

I'm generally a big fan of Aldi but sometimes when you pay peanuts you get monkeys!

I have to be honest they are not the most comfortable trainers! But to be fair I had a sore foot (after walking up Pen y Fan mountain last week) so I will give them another go. They also slip around a lot (I don't have clips yet) without being clipped in.

If your not ready to clip on then you might like to try these strapless toe clips.

I used these for a year on my Trek hybrid before converting to spd cleats. I thought they were great. They got the feet in just the right position on the pedals and worked well on the hills while standing. Combined with aero bars, my cycling experience and performance were greatly enhanced. Although I have a road bike I'm planning to use the Trek over the winter.

Love the Aldi stuff but the fit can be a bit hit or miss. I tried on one of the latest jackets at the weekend, but the colour I wanted didn't fit. The greeny / black one in the same size was a lovely fit but I wasn't made up with the colours. Is there a reason that so much cycling clothing is black? Not just at Aldi but in general. I want to be as visible as possible.

I presume all the bright stuff went early doors in my local aldi. All the thick stuff for winter anyway. Was only a couple of bright ones left by last thurs night.

well i went in today and bought a few bits, however i bought the HRM and it either thinks i am dead or about to have a heart attack so its going back tomorrow.

Arm warmers and the tool kit seem decent though.

Arm warmers are good, however if they run out other places do them for about the same price so it no problem if you can't get in your size.
I had a cycle computer from lidl many years ago it wouldn't record anything over 40mph including distance.

I think the Lidl bike computers have improved a bit. I'm using a Bluetooth version which has clocked me at 45mph which is probably accurate. As you note, I don't think I ever got a reading of over 27mph on my previous models!

I've also used the Aldi Bluetooth version but far prefer the Lidl model.

Mine lasted about the same amount of time. I should have taken them back as they aren't really fit for purpose, but I lost the receipt. I've replaced them with "dhb m1.0"s instead, which still look and feel almost brand new after five months and about 2000 km, and only cost about £30.

I have aldi cycling shirts, socks, arm warmers and fingerless gloves, and they're all pretty good. Well, the gloves fall apart after two or three months, but they're so cheap I just move onto another pair. I wasn't impressed by their shorts, but their winter tights look quite reasonable.
