Aldi madness

I paid a visit to Aldi at Wallsend this morning to take advantage of their cycle gear special...

I got there not long before opening to find a queue of sorts, and when the doors opened, to a mad rush.
I picked up a basket and headed for the specials area to find a melee three deep with people just reaching through and grabbing three or four of the items they were after - only to find they eventually literally threw their unwanted sizes back!.

I eventually - and respectfully- got to the baskets sideways and selected the items I wanted, but during the minute or two in that melee, I had two different people elbowing me out of the way, one guy reaching past my leg to get a top and some cheeky bar-steward going to take the precision oil pen out of my basket - until I gave him a look telling him that I would inject it up his jacksy if he did.

Of all my visits for the cycling specials, I have never experienced this.

It was madness and probably not far off some coming to blows.

People never seem to stop amazing me.

Just wondering what it's like when it's Rugby specials time

I cycled past Aldi's in Congleton, Sandbach, Middlewich and Knutsford and avoided the lure of stopping to check the specials. I am definitely more restrained in my old age.
You mean there's a Aldi in Knutsford now  mind you not been up for a while since Mum sold up and moved to Holmes Chapel so she was near my sister. Next thing the Bentley dealership will change to Kia. (actually Knutsford is a really nice place and the "Eldon" is a great pub)

It is quite a posh looking Aldi. ;)

Is there a bloke in a top hat stood on the door?

similar thing at my one this morning too, I got my few bits and there wasn't quite such a scrum but it was popular and people were making sure they didn't get shifted from their spot at the front.

a bit of a nice day and the bank holiday has got the fair weather crowd all fizzy.

We have just called in to see what was left, not the store we went in a few months ago, that store is horrid but today we called into the larger Scunthorpe store and I was pleasantly surprised, far better store than the other, same layout but wider aisles and everything nice tidy and clean..........got ourselves some bargains too......but still had to go to Asda for some spuds:tongue:

Should've got the red potatoes from Aldi, they make lovely roasties when you do them in goose fat.

There was quite a scrum at the Bradley Stoke branch. Partner and I managed to be first in, but it all got a bit unpleasant. Got what we needed and then drove down to Tiverton for a relaxed ride along the Grand Western Canal. Just chilling in The Globe with a glass of Otter before the ride back.
