Aksium..... Worthwhile upgrade

I've used aksiums for years. All my bikes bar the CX and MTB bikes) have aksiums. I use them for everything from commuting in all weather to weekend rides (not as much these days though) and they've been fine. I don't think they're the lightest at the price but they've bee reliable. I only had one problem with them when a spoke came loose. I get my bikes serviced every year though and that includes spoke re-tension so that may have had something to do with the reliability aspect.

I've never used any other wheel set though so unable to compare. Someone once told me they were too heavy for the price and recommended another wheel set, but he's always tinkering with hisnbike and I don't have the time for that.

Come on, admit it...most people buy different wheels because they look prettier than the ones they have.

I needed wheels for the genesis build, got the 5s for a very good price. Then had to have lighter wheels on the carbon, so bought another pair of the newer model. Originals with white hubs on the pearson now, black hubs on genesis. Both suit their wheels well

Whatever my budget was has just had a massive set back. Went to town today and came back having booked a holiday to the states
Think I'm gonna hold out and get some Zonda's or Eurus
