I was lucky enough to get a little bit of Xmas money this year and was thinking about upgrading my mavic cxp22 wheelset. Iv been looking at the mavic askium as an upgrade as my budget wont stretch to much more. Am I likely to see s substantial difference with these ?
Thanks in advance

I wouldn't have thought so, I've used both and I never saw much difference.

There would likely be a weight difference as cxp22 are quite weighty tough rims. I know people that have upgraded stock wheels to Aksium and felt they got a livelier response (tyre choice makes an impact here).

You could weigh your front wheel and compare to the data on the Mavic site?

What tyres are you using?

I like my Aksiums, but have a set of handbuilts (DRC ST18-II) on Tiagra hubs that I like better (the cost was similar).

Worth considering if you have a good builder nearby?

I recently upgraded my wheels from the ones you have (on specialized hubs) and did loads of research. The aksiums didn't seem to be a worthwhile upgrade. I went for campagnolo zondas and they have been excellent, really improved the handling and feel of my bike. There are also the scirrocos which cost a bit less but are heavier with slightly deeper rims.

Yep iv always liked the Zonda wheelset. Perhaps I should save a few more pennies and hang on to get those
I think that's a better idea, good wheels are a worthwhile investment. Also plan to get lighter and more supple tyres too as they also make a big difference.

You will notice a bit of a difference as they will spin up to speed a bit faster and a bit less weight on hills , i use rs11`s on my boardman that came with cxp 22s which are much the same weight as the askiums .

CXP 22's weigh in at over 2kg & feel like it too. I had them on my 2011 Giant Defy.

Mavic Aksiums come in at 1735 grammes (I think) so a very useful 265g (minimum) weight saving.
Weight saved on wheels is far better than say a light saddle or seat post etc as it is rolling mass (so say the experts).

They also spin up much faster & as they come with matched tyres are a bit of a bargain.
