Pretty much got my brain around this contraption now.
There is one** instruction that is perfectly clear.... I just can't understand "why" ie frozen raw sausages or steak.... 5-8 minutes.
Frozen chips....22+ minutes.
I have looked at various AFs and all are similar.
I would have assumed the sausages etc would take longer.
**in case I get more queries 🙂

Sausages do take about 15-20 minutes depending on size. We just use the timer, set to 15 minutes, await the ping, go back give them a wiggle, then pop on for another 5-10 minutes depending upon how cooked they look.

Cooking by numbers is not the way forward.

You don't have to be a classically trained chef to know when a sausage is cooked to your liking.

Its probably more about the volume of food in the machine. Chips will fill the basket, sausages generally won't, leaving far more room for air flow, its the airflow that speeds cooking up .

What is the difference if any between an "air fryer" and the normal oven?

An air fryer is much smaller than a conventional oven and has better air flow than a fan oven. This means it uses less energy and is quicker than a conventional oven.
The downside is that being smaller if you are cooking for a number of people you may be better off with a conventional oven rather than doing batches in the air fryer.
