aero helmets for 13 year olds

can a 13 year old wear an aero helmet in a time trial or must they wear an average safety helmet?

Nothing in the BCF rules that says they can't, I don't think.

Rules 8.6.1 and 22.11 apply.

is there a rule that says under 18s or under 16s have to wear protective helmets rather than just aero helmets?

BCF rules say that any aero helmet must be a protective hard shell/ soft shell construction to Eu SNell or AUNZ standards.

Fairings are not allowed.

I should think ctt are similar, but I'm not a tester so I'm not sure. Why not give the organiser a ring?

CTT rules don't seem to ban them. Therefore one would assume they are allowed:

15. Protective Helmets
All competitors under the age of 18 years and/or Juniors must wear a properly affixed helmet which must be of hard/soft shell construction. Helmets should conform to a recognised Standard such as SNELL B95, ANSI Z90.4, AUS/NZS 2063:96, DIN 33-954, CPSC or EN 1078. It is the responsibility of the rider (or parent or guardian if the rider is under 18 years of age) to:

1. Select a Helmet that offers protection against head injury and does not restrict the rider’s vision or hearing.
2. Ensure that the helmet is properly fitted, is undamaged and in good condition.

what is the differance between a helmet and a fairing???

A fairing is just a plastic shell designed to improve aerodynamics. It doesn't offer any meaningful protection.

Illegal for all riders under BC/UCI regs and for riders under 18 and Juniors under CTT regs.
