in a non-injury RTC the police will not come out unless an offence has been commited i.e. hit & run, theathening behaviour, assault, you would have to report the incident at the nearest police station :cycle:

Ye thanks - thats what i thought. So from the perspective of getting an on the scene police report apportioning blame then that presumably isnt much help. That could conceivably lead to one persons word against another.

where you coming from? read what? this is from experience, stop being a complete & utter twat, I take it you`re trying to wind people up? Well it`s working :cursing:

Read the bit where it says that the driver must provide insurance details if there is an injury (it has been mentioned a few times now)...which makes your statement that reporting it to the Police may result in more details being provided "i.e. name of insurance company, etc" incorrect. And I am not sure what the "etc" would be either...

That`s where the problem lies, one persons word against the other, in this case the OP has a witness & this is where cams come in handy, even carrying a still camera in the pocket is useful

It must be hard for you knowing I was right.

And if you ignore me how are you ever going to learn stuff?

Yes but nothing is quite so compelling as an on the scene police report. With this in mind how about saying ive been in an accident with a car and i am slightly injured and the drivers is getting increasingly aggressive - please help.
Really only necessary if you have incurred some substantial damages either to yourself or property - nobody wants to waste the polices time.

I take it you have never rung the police before, they generally aren't going to keep you on the line with an RTC, they will get the information off you that are required and then be done. No need to talk about the weather etc.. that is what the responding police units will do.

If you specify no injury, as it's aggravated anyway by car v bike, they'd send someone IF someone was available - and that does tend to be a big IF nowadays. If they can't find anyone they'll either ask you to come in, make an appointment over the phone, or take details over the phone dependant on policy.

All of the above is in the given example of a non injury RTC where the Road Traffic Act has been complied with by all parties.

If you ring and report an injury RTC, they will find a unit from somewhere to attend you and can't just take details, unless there are some really extenuating circumstances (other units tied up with jobs they really can't leave, robberies, murders etc)

When I broke my clavicle in an RTC it took the Police 40 minutes to attend the scene.

From several replies here it would appear that many people do.
