Very good trip Jimmy.. Hey Flipflop i had a Grifter too..... How bloody heavy were them bikes????. To do with training i would just set yourself some routes and goals... keep a detailed log and then when you look back you will see your improvements; Make sure you eat well too(obvious i know!) but plenty forget because they so focused on training. Sounds like its going well enough though. Jimmy right too, make sure it stays fun.......

If you know what's good for you ...
Eating well may be obvious but it's an important point that is easily overlooked. Oh, and rest too! That's forgotten sometimes!
Grifters! God, I'm jealous! I so wanted a Grifter! All I got was a crappy Raleigh Roadrunner. Ah well! ..... Wasn't there a bit of a rivality between Grifter owners and Chopper owners? And staying on choppers, is what we call "chopper" today so named because if you had an accident on one of those damn things that's exactly what you'd lose the use of??

I've just completed my 2nd week of cycling.

I'm a 40yr old Ex Gaelic Footballer in N Ireland..

I've got a Trek 1.1 road bike - the 1st week i completed 3 six mile cycles, with an average speed of 13ph. This weekend, i've upped the ante to 8 mile cycles & my ave speed is @ 14 mph. I'm following Jimmy's plan here - i have to say, i've really caught the cycling bug now....i'm actually driving home from work and thinking of cycling routes now!

Plus it helps that my jeans aren't nipping my waist now!

Thanks again Jimmy for this info....
