Advice for a newbie - £300 to spend

Thanks guys, Insurance confirmed they are sending me £350 evans vouchers. Will stretch to £400 so I am tempted by a Specialized Sirrus or a Scott sub 40... any recommendations at that price pt (from Evans)

I need to look into breaking... am I best off removing handlebars, gears and brake stuff and selling separatly?

My sirrus, about 18 months old, now has 2000 miles and no problems. Tyres are still good, but I've just replaced front and rear brake pads.

Once i'd flipped the stemmy thing at the top to give me a better riding position it's fine and is a comfortable alternative to the other bike I use with drops.

Only disappointing things are that:
Stripped the thread on one of the bargrip locating screws and haven't yet found a replacement

A couple of the screws holding handle bar to stem are rusting.

So nothing really to complain about.

Hi all. After a lot of deliberating, I reckon that I could plunge for the Dawes Discovery 301 at £300 approx. Not really seen a bad review of it, they all seem to be positive. Wonder if I could try haggling for some accessories thrown in?
