I just discovered a very quick way to skip forwards and backward 10 seconds in YouTube videos. I usually fiddle with the timeline at the bottom of the video but this is a lot better...

To go back 10 seconds double tap the left side of the video in the YT app, or use the 'J' key on a computer with YT in a browser window.

To skip forwards 10 seconds double tap the right side of the video in the YT app, or use the 'L' key on a computer with YT in a browser window.

Bonus discovery: The speed-up controls don't work properly on my Panasonic smart TV YT app. Normal speed IS normal, and double speed IS double speed. But... 1.75 x normal speed is actually only 1.25 x normal speed. I think that 1.5 x is more like 1.1 x and 1.25 x is more like 1.05 x.

Croissants are so called because of their shape, croissant being the French for crescent. I had always thought it was something to do with cross, but couldn't see why.

I always thought it was from "croitre" to grow, croissant= growing. Possibly because they swelled up in the oven or something. But I was wrong.

I recently found out that 'chimney' is slang for a black-eye. It makes sense now.

I just Googled it and found lots of people going with the black eye theory, but then I found this (on the Daily Star website!)...

However, a few years back The Tamperer member Mario Fargetta did weigh in on the line, leaving the black eye theory in question. He was quoted as saying in an interview: "When I penned those inspirational lyrics I was literally just thinking what a girl would look like with an actual chimney on her."

Could it possibly be a misheard lyric? The writer may be musing what she would look like wearing a medal from the Society of Steeplejacks. Possibly presented by Fred Dibnah himself, back from the dead. What's she gonna look like with a chimney honour?
