My chain seems to be scratching on the outer side of the front derailleur, it needs about 1mm clearance (to the right) but I have no idea how to do it properly, I have check the video on bicycletutor, but it is not very clear on how to do so. Can someone help me?

You will have a adjuster screw on the changer or on the down tube (depending on what type you have) screw that out one turn and then test if it is still not working try turning once more...

Knonist do you have rapid fire shifters ( little paddles you push with your thumb) or twist grip shifter (bit like the throttle on a motorbike)

on the shifters themselves where the cable enters it, you'll find a little turn screw (the cable should pass through this turn screw), you can turn this to make small adjustments to the front derailleur ... try anti-clockwise one full turn and check to see if the noise has gone, repeat this until it stops, remember one turn at a time.

I hope it helps

I tried to turn the screw on the shifter before, but it didnt work, and then I did it again (like mad) today when I was really p-off with the noise, and it worked!

But I now screwed up my front shifter lever......
