You will have a adjuster screw on the changer or on the down tube (depending on what type you have) screw that out one turn and then test if it is still not working try turning once more...

Knonist do you have rapid fire shifters ( little paddles you push with your thumb) or twist grip shifter (bit like the throttle on a motorbike)
on the shifters themselves where the cable enters it, you'll find a little turn screw (the cable should pass through this turn screw), you can turn this to make small adjustments to the front derailleur ... try anti-clockwise one full turn and check to see if the noise has gone, repeat this until it stops, remember one turn at a time.

Don't forget that you should not use the small sprocket with the largest chainring or the large sprocket with the smallest chainring. Those combinations place too much stress on the chain and are more likely to rub on the front mech.
