Here's one I made earlier ...

This is my bike. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My bike is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My bike, without me, is useless. Without my bike, I am useless. I must ride my bike true. I must ride straighter than the motorist who may be trying to kill me. I must see him before he hits me. I will...

My bike and myself know that what counts in this ride is not the cadence we pedal, the noise of our bursting lungs, nor the steam we make. We know that it is the hills that count. We will overcome...

My bike is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its gears and its brakes. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my bike clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God, I swear this creed. My bike and myself are the defenders of my commute. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviours of my life.

So be it, until victory is ours and there is no enemy, but punctures!

Any more out there ?

And did those wheels, in ancient times, roll upon England's mountains green.

And was the holy bike of God, on England's pleasant pastures seen.

Crap, innit? I'll get my coat....

We few, we happy few, we band of cyclists,

For he that rides the road with me, shall be my brother,

Be he ne'er so vile, this ride shall gentle his condition,

And riders now abed at home, shall think themselves accursed they're not out here with us,

And hold their manhoods cheap,

Whilst any speaks, that rode with us, upon St Cav's Day.

If you can ride with crowds and hold your line,
' Or sprint with Cav - and keep in touch,
if neither foes nor other riders can scalp you,
If all men ride with you, but none too fast;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance ridden,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Cyclist, my son!

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the BICYCLE shall be revealed, and all CYCLISTS shall see it together.

As pie is the fuel that keeps me going......

This is my pie. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My pie is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My pie, without me, is useless. Without my pie, I am useless. I must eat my pie true. I must eat faster than the pie eater who may be trying to outeat me. I must see him before he gets me. I will...

My pie and myself know that what counts in this feast is not the filling we savour, the noise of our crunching crust, nor the pleasure we make. We know that it is the taste that counts. We will overcome...

My pie is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its gravy, its ingredients, its pie tin and its shelf life. I will ever guard it against the ravages of other's incisors and consumption as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my pie clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God, I swear this creed. My pie and myself are the defenders of my diet. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the flavours of my life.

So be it, until victory is ours and there is no enemy, but flans and quiches!

And Abraham did say unto the Lord, "Perchance, if I find fifty cyclists in Sodom and Gomorrah will thou spare them?"
And the Lord sayeth, "Yea, if you can find fifty proper cyclists, not pedestrians on bikes, I shall spare them."
And Abraham sayeth, "Lord, perchance if I find twenty cyclists in Sodom and Gomorrah, wouldst thou spare them?"
And the Lord respondeth, "You're pushing Abraham, but so long as they're not just fair weather cyclists, I will spare the towns for their sake."
And Abraham spoke once more unto the Lord, "Perchance I find ten proper, all-weather cyclists in Sodom and Gomorrah, will thou spare them?"
And the Lord replied, "You're busting my balls Abraham, but okay, provided they keep their gears and brakes in good working order, wash their bikes occasionally and oil their chains, I will spare the towns for their sake."
But when Abraham went outside to collect it bike, he found someone had sawn through the lock and made off with it, so that was that.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I cycled weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious road of forgotten holes,
While I nodded, nearly bonking, suddenly there came a honking,
As of some one was loudly honking, honking meters from my tail.
`'Tis some Moton,' I muttered, `honking at my tail -
Only this, and nothing more.'

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate ray of sun wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; - vainly I had sought to borrow
From my bikes surcease of sorrow - sorrow for the lost Lenore -
For the rare and radiant roadie whom the angels named Lenore -
Nameless here for evermore.

etc etc. hehe

Yay !

I hoped this thread would take off & it has, you have all done very well.

We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering. You ask, what is our policy? I will say: It is to cycle, by sea, land, and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us; to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human cycling. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be.
