Perhaps the OP has the proof. I don't mind people using forums to vent their frustration at being treated badly by a shop/dealer. I do see your point about it being the competition but I'd prefer to take the chance and leave people talk about their experiences. I think the shop would hear about this either directly or on the grape vine and can deal with it then. I've seen that happen in a different situation.

i am the OP and yes it is my real name. and yes i do have the proof (reciept with my name and the company on it).

i would rather people read about bad and good experiances and make their minds up for themselves, and for me thats why these forums are great cause you find out from people real experiances. In this case i had a bad one.

How many comment have we all read about Ribbles' Customer service. Some find it great others not so. The point is you are an informed buyer and make your own choices.

You will notice i stated I will never be using them again.

i never once stated anyone else shouldnt

I think it's more the fact that you haven't let us know WHY you were getting the frame replaced - unless I missed that bit?

Sorry mate but I haven't a Scooby as to what your exact problems were! It sounds like you let them have your bike to send away for a replacement but YOU keep all the accessories on it.

Makes no sense!

The fd bolt fell into the frame. The company sent pictures to giant and they instructed the company to strip the frame and send it to them for repAir/replacement

The company didn't contact me about stripping the bike or ask me what I wanted to do

The frame isn't the issue it's the fact they stripped it and then lost some of the parts and refused to replace them

They took the bike apart and sent the frame off. Got the frame back 5 weeks later and a box, followed by the shop saying pay us to build it or have fun yourself.

not a problem i enjoy playing with bikes

but not when parts they took off are missing!

The headset spacers, computer magnet and bolts that hold the rear cable guide is nowhere to be seen, and the rear mech has a big scratch on it (i fitted a new mech 2 days before it went into the shop)

I spoke to the manager and was told we don't have them, your problem!!

Appalling. In case they are unaware of the publicity this attracts, I have just sent their HQ a link, given they are a chain. Let us see what they say/do, if anything...

Im one of the pro Ribble shoppers. Used them on a few occasions and the service and delivery were top notch, but that was only my experience, but I also agree, its not just about slating a LBS, but it is worth mentioning poor service so users can read the positives and negatives prior to buying to make their own minds up. Consumer feedback is priceless IMO.

i have read bad reviews on here and other sites stating how bad they are. Like you i have only found them to be first class.

I have no problem with naming & shaming. I have never ever heard of companies using this to slag off competitors - doubtless because the effort involved and the risks run mean it's not worth the candle. Also, the number of companies unethical enough to behave in such a way is vanishingly small. I think it's great that companies that treat people like this get 'outted' it's just about the only realistic recourse most ordinary punters have...and if word gets around that word can get around, it might just encourage more companies to do the right thing. What was that one covered recently on here, where the BB on his 8 month old £500 bike had gone snafu, and the LBS demanded something like £60 to fit a new one, refusing to fix under warranty because it was 'just wear & tear'? Sod that. Name & shame!

As for the OP - what a shower! You seem to be handling it with commendable calm, but I hope Action Bikes of Camberley lose lots of business. Certainly if I lived in or anywhere near CAMBERLEY, I'd avoid ACTION BIKES like the plague.
