Recently took my bike into this shop to get my frame replaced

They took the bike apart and sent the frame off. Got the frame back 5 weeks later and a box, followed by the shop saying pay us to build it or have fun yourself.

not a problem i enjoy playing with bikes

but not when parts they took off are missing!

The headset spacers, computer magnet and bolts that hold the rear cable guide is nowhere to be seen, and the rear mech has a big scratch on it (i fitted a new mech 2 days before it went into the shop)

I spoke to the manager and was told we don't have them, your problem!!

last time i goto that place, the manager has a terrible attitude if your not buying something they aren't interested.

I have been going to that shop for 5 years and spent thousands there!

bring back the old management please!

they can be bloody awful at times.... but if you like to tinker, why give them your bike to strip instead of just ordering the frame from them and change the parts over yourself?

i took the frame in to get some damage assessed but was informed by them it could be a warranty repair/replacement. I left the bike with them, wasn't planned, i only went in for advise.

in the 5 weeks the frame was away i did excately that,

bought a new frame and sram red/force group set and built a new bike, which is 7kg (2.5 kg lighter than the old bike).

The old bike will now be my winter/turbo machine

If you left that bike with them and they took it apart I'd ask them to undo their handy work and reassemble my bike if that happens to be on the new frame its their problem they weren't asked to take the bike apart they were asked to assess damage to the frame.

Ouch!! that's one LBS I wouldn't mind seeing closed. Personally I would seek advice from trading standards, what have you got to lose. Me being me I would also go to the local press and tell them my story. They usually love stuff like this as it is local and they struggle to fill papers as it is. May be enough to get a response and a solution.

I would like to hear the other side of this story. Name and shaming without proof is not a good idea and can get the forum into problems.

I look forward to the day someone takes a forum owner to court for hosting freedom of speech . They back off pretty fast when you tell them to go for it

Who was talking court? It would be easy for a competitor to bad mouth another, and nobody would be any the wiser.

Last time I was there the service was fantastic, now that is not true as I have never been near the shop, but maybe you get my point.

Usually I would agree when it is from an anonymous member but the op seems to be using his real name .
