Hi to all.
I could just do with a little bit advice on the above derailleur I've just bought. It only cost me £10 and thought I would take a chance and am hoping for the best that it will work on my aging Peugeot bike. At the moment my old bike still its original simplex derailleur and in all truth it's showing signs of wear. It just about works on my Six speed cassette but its had to be adjusted to the extreme to stop the jockey wheel from fouling the cassette when it's on its lowest gear. The new derailleur is specified for a MTB and wondering if it will be compatible with my bike. It states on the box it's for use with a 7/8 cassette but I'm hoping it will ok with a 6 speed with friction shifters on the down tube. I will no doubt need to get a new chain as the cage of the new derailleur is a medium against the old being a short cage.
Any advice given is always appreciated from you good souls..
Johnny.

Loch side.
You can make just about anything work with friction shifters. As long as you can bolt it on and the mounts are compatible you will be OK.

Hi again. Its all set now , and working very smoothly. I stuck a new chain on as the old one was way to short. When I took the old derailleur off it was pretty much worn out. The jockey wheels were badly worn as well as the riveted pins that the derailleur workings pivot on. It felt quite sloppy compared to the new one. It hasn't done to bad though, as it's 34 years old..I wonder if the new shimano will last as long :-)
Many thanks for all your good advice.
