Spotted this in a shop yesterday:

I had a grope and determined that the casing felt more substantial than the cable inside. If you lose either of the 2 keys supplied you can probably saw through it in a few seconds with a worn nail file, or sneeze on it hard.

If the rule of thumb is to spend 10% of the cost of the bike to be locked on its security, it's easy to calculate how much you're gonna want to be digging into your pockets for your ride.

Setting the controls for the heart of the sun.
May be the bike didn't cost much in the first place?

D cells IIRC.
Found one of those front lights in one of the boxes in my garage a couple of months ago, when I was having a clear out. Recycled. ^_^
Did it have a bulb or was it a candle like my dads?^_^

They give those out for free in centre parks, they stop people accidentally taking the wrong bike...but not much else.

From the same shop as above, which isn't exclusively 99p but does give Poundland a run for its money:

The allen keys spanners etc. may in fact be serviceable, i.e. not secretly forged from cold pasta, I don't know. What is objectionable is the loud BIKE TOOL, which is halfway to being an insult and all the way to being wince-worthy.
