Abstract Reasoning Tests

I've been to an 'assessment centre' today. Verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, business case studies, group exercises etc etc I can cope with, but abstract reasoning...let's just say I won't be getting the job if this particular test is weighted highly!

My memory is nowhere near as good as it used to be but I still found those questions easy so my theory is that excessive beer drinking may be bad for the memory, but it doesn't seem to affect abstract reasoning quite so much!

There have been various fads over the years which claim to pinpoint the correct person/people for the job with psychometric being the latest one. At the end of the day, if you speak to interviewers and recruiters, many will agree that once the obvious inappropriate applicants have been excluded, it's as well to toss a coin.
