Went out to Vermont camping and hiked up and down Mount Ascutney in Windsor, Vermont last weekend. Lovely hike (if a bit tough for my overweight and unfit body) with 8 solid hours of going up, steeply up... then down, steeply down. My knees were hurting afterwards. The view here is from the fire tower looking at New Hampshire, alas the photo doesn't do it justice.

We visited Hawker's Hut on a cliff on the very North-East Coast of Cornwall. It was built from driftwood by the Rev. Hawker in the 1840's so he could gaze out at the sea, write poems and sermons, and smoke opium. He was, by all accounts, a bit of a one-off.
