I had my mountain bike nicked nearly a year ago. For various reasons, it wasn't insured so I was able to replace it. Just after Christmas, I decided that I wanted to build up a mountain bike as a project. This mostly stemmed from wanting a bike to stick a child seat on (all of my bikes are carbon) when my 4 month old son is old enough. I managed to source a frame and brakes pretty quickly, but nothing else. I'm trying to keep the build under £300. Over the weekend, I managed to nab a rockshox reba for £30. It needs a service, but they're easy to service and parts are readily available. The seller also had a 3x9 groupset, handlebars, stem, cables, and headset going which I got for another £50. I'll be converting it to 1x9. I managed to nab a set of mavic wheels on ebay this morning for £65. So all I need is a bottom bracket, tyres, seat post and saddle, and some grips and I'm good to go. I might have a seat post kicking about somewhere.
