That reminds me of an incident on a BMI flight last year. Me and Mrs EMD had been in departures and we had bought to small bottles of wine that came with glasses attached. When we bought them we asked if you were allowed to drink these during the flight, which we were told we OK. So there we were sitting on the flight drinking our wine and reading our books when one of the air waitresses approached.
"excuse me, you're not allowed to drink that on this flight. It's against the law"
"against the law? which law would that be then?" I asked
"well, it's not a law, it's a European directive"
"really" sounding surprised "which European directive would that be then"
"look, if you don't stop drinking that I'll have to talk to the captain"
To say I was pissed off would be an understatement. She had got herself into such a frenzy that other passangers were starting to look in our direction to see what was making her so angry. I explained to her that we had asked prior to purchase if we were allowed to drink the offending wine onboard but she was having none of it. I decided to let it go as it was quickly turning ugly. She then told us she had to confiscate the wine (she wasn't happy about us just putting the lids back on). I did however get the last word in when she spilt the wine glass as she was "confiscating" the glasses, she handed me some paper towels and rudely told me to clean it up, I responded with "I thought that was your job" and watched her clean it up herself red faced!
We were sitting reading our books enjoying a glass of wine. It wasn't like we were drunk and being rowdy!!
