Literally!! 1st time it's happened to me so all advice welcome.
I got caught in the rainstorms of Thursday and Friday and lets just say I'm a little sore in the groin region!

At the moment I'm using E45 cream to get rid of the redness and ease the pain. Does anyone have any lotions and potions they use/recommend for this sort of predicament?

I often sit on myself (if you get the gist) after just standing on the pedals. It really hurts and I struggle to enjoy the rest of the ride.
I have never needed to use cream though.

I get the meaning - haven't done anything that would relegate me to a life singing falsetto yet! My "soreness" is at the very top of my legs where my sitting bone joins my hip. 2 red strips of flesh (one per leg) where I assume the "wet" coolmax pad has been rubbing!

Could it be what you are wearing?

After a long ride, I normally get aches and stiffness in my legs and I find myself out of the saddle in order to get more comfortable.
A few weeks ago, me and the family went out on a 5 miles joyride along the coast. All the time, my mum and dad were complaining about being really uncomfortable with the saddles (even though my mums is extra padded). I simply told them they would get used to it.

The problem is that our bums arent designed for bike seats. We have a bone at the bottom of our pelvises which hurts after pressure has been on it for a while. That is why we need a groove in the centre of the seat.

Everyone gets sensitive pains after a while of cycling. It is part of the route to being a proper cyclist.

I don't think so - this sort of thing doesn't affect me normally and I've been using my current saddle for well over a year without problems - I just put it down to getting well and truly drenched!!

I often get a kind of dry redness just either side of my p____ just on the tendons which go to your thigh. It usually goes after I have given cycling a rest for a while, but it comes back after a long ride.

I've put a lot effort into getting as comfortable as possible. I can usually cycle for 50-60 miles and hop back on the bike the next day without any discomfort. Just goes to show that just when you think you've got things sorted that you can still be surprised!!

OK - off the bike today and tomorrow to allow time for things to heal. Problem solved about my current "sensitivity" though. Have switched from supermarket eggs to "proper" eggs from a friend recently. Suspect I might be intolerant to them as I've deleveloped an itchy rash around my elbows, wrists, knees etc.. Assuming the same thing has happened at the other joints I'll have no doubt rubbed them red raw, hence the pain.

Looking forward to cycling on Monday again....I must be a proper cyclist now. Passed one of my fellow commuters whilst in my tin can on the way to the railway station and actually wanted to be out in the rain pedalling! ^_^
