Hi all,

Im totally new to cycling but loving it and not getting out as much as i would like, but hey thats life.

Right, my darling children nocked the chain off on my bike, obviously the cogs are on springs on the back wheel and i just slipped it over the cogs and put it back on.

Im sure (unless im imagining things) that my gears are lower now??? Should i have stretched the cogs down before putting chain on??? To be honest i cant even remember what i did, but i think my gears are different now??

Is this right or is all this just a figment of my imagination lol ;),

thanks guys and by the way i am definitely going to get fit and do the great north bike ride next year!!!! i cant wait

Once you have the chain back on the sprockets, turn the cranks a few times and the chain should settle in the the gear and on the sporkets it was in previously. Then just move the gear changers as normal to get the gear that you need.

If the bike got knocked, I suppose the changers might have got knocked too? (depends what type they are), which might account for it apparently being in a different gear.... Front changer also sounds like something to check...
