I posted the above photos on a local F/B page and received more abusive than supportive replies. One calling me words to the affect of 'Nosey and f..k all else to do' and 'That's my favourite take-away' get a life saddo'.

Honestly,us amateur 'investigative journalists' put out necks and reputations on the line to bring you these type of 'sensational' pics!!:okay:
I'm no expert but my understanding of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 is that randomly forcing pedestrians into the road is not an acceptable 'traffic management' solution. Even if the only viable option is to make pedestrians cross over and use the other side, it's still the undertaker's responsibility to signpost the route and make any other necessary provisions. It's also the highway authority's (presumably the lcoal council in this case) responsibility to enforce this.

Near to me, the council seems to sign off dropped kerbs where the driveways are nowhere near long enough resulting in this:

Because of the short length of the drop, it's also steep - it's a proper PITA with a pram.

Seems to be getting worse and worse round here aswell.

Working as a delivery driver now I could probably put about 10 posts on this thread a day.
Another beauty I keep seeing is like below, I mean who would actually want to live on these streets. And the amount of new build estates where the cars are parked everywhere looks so untidy. I actually feel for the children though, I mean it wasn’t that many years ago me and my friends used to be out playing football and all sorts of stupid games in the streets now there isn’t really room for anything

You can thank Blair for that. It was his administrations idea that limiting the amount of car parking within new builds will discourage car ownership. Last oerso to be that wrong about something was Neville Chamberlain.

I thought new builds had to provide off street parking. Where my son lives I think is 2 or possibly 3 car spaces for a new build detached. Not that there is any compulsion to use them tho'.
It may be different in Scotland. One problem with planning is that it is often a matter of opinion of the local planning officer rather than what is in law.
My brother once worked as a planning officer in England and he said that planning permission often depended on how well you wined and dined the head of the department.

My sister's new build has parking for two cars, but as most of the houses are 4 bed detatched, there are 3 plus cars, and parking is a nightmare, your screwed with visitors. We've got space for two cars, but a 3 car parking spot next to our house, which my son uses one, and a neighbour the other (they have two cars and a van, and one space on the drive).

Is it possible to get pointy attachments for ones wheelchair ?
Perhaps there’s a market for all sorts of go barster modifications...

I always grazed cars parked on the pavement with the wheelchair at my old job. Inconsiderate t#ats.

New estates around here have "drives" which are tarmac spaces barely big enough to contain a moderate car and where there are two they are line-astern down the side of the house, meaning the car at the back gets trapped in. Unsurprisingly people don't bother parking there and park on the street, since their front doors open nearly onto the pavement anyway it's the shortest route from car to sofa.

Slightly off topic, but, last night (Thursday 20th May), the Tonight TV program was about the problems of Electric Hire Scooters being ridden / parked /dumped on pavements/pedestrian areas. At the beginning of the program, there was a shot of the presenter riding along a road on a (hire) electric scooter. Every parked car in the shot (and, there were several) was parked on the pavement.

Double standards, or what?

Not condoning pavement parking (or obstruction) by the way, but, a bit of consistency would be nice. ;)

When my sons were younger, I could see the need for the 'Boudica' pram, with long blades protruding from the wheels. For a more up-to-date version, the 'Spitfire' would come armed with 8 Browning machine guns.
