It must be. Seriously,it was about 12C,with annoying cloud and blinding(low)sunshine. Not too cold, just typical niceish autumn weather. And besides technically i'm not in Accrington,i'm in Great Harwood which is a town(3 miles away)that makes up the borough of Hyndburn with Accy as the 'capital' town.:okay:

And here's a photo of the sky taken at 13.32. I always take a daily pic' of the sky(and a 'selfie')..before you ask.:okay:

OK Accy, I'm calling you out here.

That picture was not taken today in the North West anywhere. It's bone f'ing dry there with wispy clouds.

I've been out and about in the N West today and it's been hissing it down on and off, so no bone dry stuff to be seen. The sky never looked like that....
In Accy's defence I live 9 miles west as the crow flies from Great Harwood. I rode from 9.05 to 13.30 and we didn't see a drop of rain yesterday. It was very windy, a lot of standing water and wet roads. It was notable as we returned home from a westerly ride the roads which had been wet were bone dry. It was a beautiful afternoon of sunshine and breeze. The grass dried out sufficiently to cut it.

Quite an old thread, but here goes.

Look at this picture of a horrendous privet, taken today!

On the otherhand you twice say this is a privet. It is a Leyland conifer (Cupressus x Leylandii) one of the worst plants ever inflicted on the public by the horticultural industry!!! Privet is an evergreen shrub, the leyland is a conifer.

Here in Melbourne Downunda our local councils send property owners whose trees overhang the footpath a nice note requesting them to be pruned or else!

Yes our local council does the same.

If the hedge isn't getting trimmed keep pestering the council and they'll sort it out.

hahaha..... we border council land (a park) and their trees are overhanging our garden and blocking ALL morning sunlight.
A month ago, after 6 attempts, I got through to the department who tell me it will be NEXT JUNE before they can do it.
I pointed out that they mow the surrounding grass every week.......sometimes twice a week.
Ahhhhh...... grass mowing is a different department

That would be a Lancashire CC problem.

Dave7, that is a different matter as it is not a highway.

Look at this picture of a horrendous privet, taken today! It's actually attached to the old/ex gatehouse of my local cemetery. I've complained to the council about it. So far nothing's been done, but hey ho i complained a mere two months ago which isn't a long time to local authorities! The tenant of the house was sat out sunbathing a few weeks ago during the 'Indian summer'. Why aren't you cutting that damned privet down instead i thought! As you walk past it you're left with about 18 inches of a pavement that must be about 4 to 5 feet wide. It's on a main road where the bus shelter about 100 yards down the road was demolished by a transit van about 5 weeks ago. I feel unsafe as i walk past this way overgrown privet, due to me being about a foot away from speeding traffic. Them there's the concern over a few i know who have to negotiate it on mobility scooters. I bet the council IF they've done anything about it have just sent a nice polite letter asking him to get it cut...in the next two years. If i had my way i'd get a council employee to slice it all off with a hedge trimmer and present the lazy scruffy fecker with a big bill for their service.

It's a bloody disgrace!!!

I'll let him off. It was wet all morning in Wigan, and we'd driven from stockport, out to Warrington and up and it was wet. Was dryer in the afternoon but still damp.

Best bet might be to log it with the council. We got some laurels trimmed back by the council as the house was a 'let' and no-one was taking responsibility - it covered the whole pavement - it was on my road though. I'd have hacked it back if I had a petrol trimmer.

Fair point, but whatever it is it's blocking a pavement on a very busy road.
