My local bikeshop has a couple of desktop sculptures on sale made mostly from bike chains.

I believe the sculptor lives locally.

The shop routinely puts old chains into the scrap bin.

The owner weighs them in for a few quid when he's collected enough to make the trip to the scrapyard worthwhile.

I'm confused, does he make sculptures or bin the chains? hard to do both, unless e makes a sculpture and then sells it a scrap?

It took me a while but with a lot of patience I managed to disassemble my old 10-speed chain.

Seems like Covid lockdown has been particularly painful for you if you had to resort to this.

Curious as to which chain splitter you used. It must be a good one. I've had many in the past, where the pin drops out or becomes a bit useless.

Would be a good advert for whichever one you used. Must be some revenue there if you contact the supplier.
