Depends on the material of the seat post. If it's alloy then it's probably going to be cut out. Coke is no good for steel against alloy as the resulting corrosion of the alloy does not dissolve under acidic conditions. Force isn't that much better as the areas that corrode act like spot welds.

If it's a steel seat post then you have a good chance if you can get the acid to soak the area to break the rust down.

Fair point - but if it's gonna be a bodge it might as well be a rough one. A nice paint job is the ONLY way to go
