Surely, you pushed/ carried for long periods. Even the tourist route from Wasdale has a few long uncyclable sections.
Putting a further damper on things, I've not checked the maps but I doubt any route onto Scafell Pike is a bridleway (I may be wrong) so no bikes should be going up there. The erosion from walkers is more than the footpaths can cope with.

Amazing. I could barely get up there in fine weather on two legs.
Here's my proof , where's yours. ( I'll show you mine if you show me yours?)

Have done a tour to the lakes n weather been NASTY!!! But made it to wasdale, stripped-down bike and went up n down scafell pike on the bike! Currently camping at Coniston having a much needed rest before continuing home; don't do scafell! It's not even suitable for monster trucks!
Slowly picking up the big ones then Badger, next stop Ben Nevis. you must be one fit guy or just plain crasy, what route did you take out of Wasdale? I know from years of trampling the Lake district, Scarefell Pike is one bugger because of the boulder ruckles that seem to surround the Summit, once again Well done

Very true of the bridleway... I was naughty but it was for charity; i took the lingmell route and yes it was carried most of the way! Esp the top part! Am now camping near Morecombe but get home tomorrow.... Then i can upload pictures, did it on my same budget bike i did Snowdon on! Poor thing needs a service now!

Taking a bike up Scafell Pike is illegal and does nothing for the reputation of mountain biking within the hill walking/ mountaineering fraternity.
Not, I think, illegal. Not a bridle way, so no legal right to take a bicycle; but not, as far as I am aware, illegal either?

Without landowner permission it is illegal under the both the Highways Act and CRoW Act for starters, but it's a civil offence and not criminal. The summit area is common land, so would be a criminal offence under the Law of Property Act - S16 higher rights for under CRoW are not recorded for that particular common.

And the above does not take into account the myriad of environmental designation and the associate protective legislation that covers the area.

But it was for charity, I'm sure that makes it all perfectly OK and hunky dory. I sure the OP will be donating generously to the charities that struggle to raise money to redress damage caused to the fragile uplands by the overuse in the name of 'good causes'

They don't like you much whatever you do - they look at you down their nose on bridleways. Fair play to the OP to getting out the house, on his bike and enjoying the countryside. If he was considerate and deferential to walkers and didn't do any harm, who cares. ofc he could have could have come down like an peanut and wound everyone, but you can't judge either way from the post.

As I'm sure all the charity walkers that go up there do.

Whatever we think of it, Scafell is part of the three peaks challenge, which the park authorities and the NT have finally acknowledged needs managing rather than closing their eyes and holding their hands out trying to stop people doing it. A patronising short sighted attitude which shows the often stunted viewpoint of organisations like the NT.

I doubt carrying a bike up Scafell will catch on and it just happens you can catch bikes up in legislation which frankly, needs revising. meanwhile those carrying fridges, pianos and various other odd things in the name of charity, are exempt.

Well done! I'm the chap you met on the way up - here's the photo I took (as further evidence for the non-believers). By the way the mountain rescue team were called out that evening - I did think of you ;)

Cheers.....Gary
