I have Aksiums on one of my bikes and I'm really impressed with them so far. I don't think I would trust them to run a loaded commuter bike in all weathers mind you. I am intending to use that particular bike as a fair weather commuter, for the Spring and Summer. I cross my fingers that I don't ping a spoke or it's game over, unlike my 36H Mavic, on my day-to-day bike.

Update: Been using them to commute on for a week or 2 (not every day, due to bad weather). Sure enough, the rear went out of true and this morning I hashed a quick 2 minute re-true, instead of doing it properly. Pinged a spoke on the rear about 3 miles into my ride. Had to limp back home and swap bikes.

Planet X A57s ordered (as was my original plan). I'll see how I get on with these for day to day riding and cross my fingers. I will have to try and source a compatible spoke for the Aksium and see if I can't get it back into service

I have recently become the proud owner of some Shimano R500's. Very much an entry level wheel for alot of people but with my limited experience of them so far , I would give 9/10 . On my bad weather workhorse I use Alex S500's ,a little heavier but have a more solid feel. So far, for my type of cycle use, weekday commute and evening/weekend liesure, these have been very reliable and I have had no reason to look elsewhere.
