Went out Sunday morning Very Very cold and frosty headed from Renfrew into Paisley met my mate and headed aong the cycle path(route 7) at canal street aiming for Ardrossan to catch the ferry to Arran.

Got a little lost in Kilwinning where we me Stevie from Stirling who very kindly took us all the way back to Ardrossan and the Ferry, Many thanks again Stevie if you see this?
He was heading in the opposite direction at the time.

Caught the ferry to Arran and headed anti clockwise round the island, that some hill heading towards Lochranza, made it nearly as far as Blackwaterfoot Bay but my mate did his knee and could no longer pedal!!

Decided to walk up the hills on the The String and freewheel down them ! 47 MPH to be exact some hill that!!
Also tied our spare inner tubes together and used them as a sort of tow rope (bloody hard work even on the flat)
Caught the ferry back to Ardrossan then the train to Paisley cycvled the few short miles back to Renfrew sum total of 76 miles was aiming for 100 miles but another time!!

All in all an eventful day but was a stunning place Arran is !!

Defo going back .
Regards

.....

... and to edwardd67 for his 'mere' 76 miles .

There do seem to be quite a few new arrivals for the CC Ecosse West Division, so, if you do decide to organise a (Forum) ride :bicycle:, put it in the appropriate section, get it to start at/near a train station - and you may get some suave, sophisticated East coast folks coming to join you.

...

... or you may get some of the CC Ecosse Easties

!

I did a ride round the Cowal Peninsula earlier this year and it was an absolute cracker, so I've been thinking about a Forum ride there next year ...

There is a good looking 200km Audax next year .....

Hi from another Westie. Not up to 70 miles yet but only got back into bikes a couple of months back when I got a new hybrid for a certain birthday that involves half a century!
Did Erskine to Helensburgh and back yesterday in the showers (according to the BBC weather, felt more like heavy rain to me!) on the cycle track to Balloch and over the hill past Duck Bay down to Helensburgh Pier. My wee bike computer said 47 miles but I'm not sure how accurate it is.
Only saw another 2 road bikes on the Hellensburgh stretch, plenty on the Bowling-Balloch section.
