I went last year and it was a lot of fun. Beer, sausages and madcap cycling. The atmosphere in t'Kuipke is great and Gent, itself, is a lovely city.
I'm going again this year but tickets are selling fast so you may need to get a shift on.

It was a bit special last year with Cav partnering Ijo Keisse, the local hero. Pity they only came second though!
I heard an unsubstantiated rumour, so probably a load of bollix, that Wiggo was going to go this year. I really do hope it's true.

Thanks for the reply. How easy is it to get tickets? And also where is the best place to sit/stand?

I used google translate and the website above. It's as easy to phone though, which I did last year.
Best place is the finish but there are no tickets left!
Anywhere is good though as the track is so short and people just wander round the top with a beer in hand, wander into the centre or sit. It's exhilarating anywhere as they come round on top of the banking so close to the spectators.

@Marmion , where did you stay last year in Gent? Assuming you'd recommend it? My place was a bit, errrm, basic.

I've stayed here Rich.

The décor in the rooms is a bit old and tired, but I thought it was a nice place to stay with helpful staff and very close to the city centre.

Didn't it used to be spelt Ghent? Or am I imagining things?

"Ghent" is the English form.

"Gent" is the Dutch/Flemish spelling and it's "Gand" in French.
