I ride a bike - does that mean I cycle ??
 
On homepage, it shows the number of users online. Only around 3/4 tend to be members, the rest are either guests or I'm guessing computers.
Most of them are guests in fact

I've often wondered what the computers get out of this place. Do they roll about laughing like the aliens in the Smash instant mashed potato advert?

Working out how to annihilate us. Probably by showing some close pass videos and saying it was the cyclist's fault and then letting us self-destruct in a mass-hysteria destruction of self-important indignation. Maybe
 
No, Total Visitors is the sum of the 3 above. Most are guests.
I'd actually just corrected my post before you responded.

It's a matter of terminology. I'd normally refer to people as members or visitors, and that's the language I used. I noticed my language was orthogonal to the language used by CC, so fixed it.

I'd say some of the "guests" will also be webcrawlers. Not every robot is polite enough to describe itself thus.
