53t or 52t!!??

the time has come for me to replace my chainrings, i thoughts i was riding a 53t front ring, but its actually a 52!!!

if i put a 53 on, will i need to.....
1. adjust the chain length
2. adjust the front derallier
3. notice any difference!!??

any info is great, thanks!!!

1/ No, cus you can't increase the chain by half a link.

2/ 1 tooth on the chainring will be a 2mm increase in radius. Your front mech should be 1mm above the teeth, so you will need to move the mech.

3/ Bugger all. 2" on top gear.

Also, you might alter the overlap step.
Calc out the gear lengths on a spreadsheet.

Just change it......53 x 39 is the way to go !!!

You may need to move your front mech up a couple of mm where it's attached to the frame.....

52 x 42 is old school...been there and done it......only just moved to a 53 x 39 on both bikes.......

Now compact / tripple......ohhhh....flippin 'eck !!!
