I got my first brand new bike and started to ride it 4 weeks ago today.

In the last four weeks I have managed to do just over 330 miles getting gradually faster, ticking off first 10 then 20 then 30 milers.

I have also managed to somewhere along the line loose just over 7kg ( which is just over a stone )
getting me under 100kg for the first time in 10 years.

I have personally gained a great deal of motivation from reading the stories of others and realised that it was just as hard/bad for them as I was feeling, if you are new and reading this I didn't believe I would ever write anything like this.
I have found something I really love doing and hope that in a couple of years I can read this again and laugh about how I thought 30 miles was a big deal

Well done. I've been riding for 4 weeks as well and have clocked up just under 300 miles.

Keep posting, it's great to have others at the same stage as me. I'm off to Leicester tomorrow to see the Ospreys play Leicester in the Heineken cup. I won't have time to get out on the bike and part of me wishes I was cycling instead even though I love following the Rugby.

Well done you both, my first month I did 228 miles, this last 30 days i have done 451.5 miles in 15 rides, avg of 30.1 miles a ride, previous 30 days, 604.5 miles in 23 rides/days avg of 26.3 miles a ride or per day, I sometimes have 2 or three rides for different purposes, but cant be a**** sorting different rides so I just do totals for the day.
:wahhey: :bravo: :highfive:

Great stuff DaveyM and keep it going - even though the winter is usually a less pleasant time for cycling.
I dont know I quite like the cooler weather, and I have ridden in winter before so I know what its like.

I was checking out your cyclinglog profile and it was very similiar to mine in speed and distance (last 30 days we did the same miles lol). We also both did our longest ride on the same day. I have lost 17 lbs. since early August.

Nice work! It takes some motivation to get out there about every day.

Great progress. I got back on my bike properly in late June - dug out the old steel Raleigh mountain bike with slick tyres and started doing some miles, I also got the "proper" mountain bike out too and did some of that with my son (14).

In July I bought a Triban 3 and have tried to ride as much as possible. Some of you are doing a lot more miles than me, I am doing around 200 miles a month and now my rides, Sat and Sun only now its getting dark, are always about 20 to 25 miles. I have done a 30 miler.

I have lost a stone, and have also joined a gym and do two sessions a week.

I feel fitter than in living memory. I ran up two elevators and along a train platform and sat down, and the feeling of euphoria when I realised I wasn't a sweating, gasping lump was fantastic.

My only disappointment ? Commuting. I have a bike locker and personal locker, showers at work etc, and I really cant be fussed with the complexity it adds to the day. I did a few and it became a chore - linking bike and work - when really I want them completely separate. I will try again in the Spring.

Thanks folks.

Good to know that we are all making some progress. I find CC a good source of motivation, hearing about how other people manage to get themself sorted and out for a ride does spur me on.

Again thanks for your support and I hope to just go steady over the winter months ( the good old front sus MTB will be back in action)
Then really by next summer hope to be fit enough and slim enough to really get some miles in ^_^

Keep logging  it's a great motivation when you find it hard to get going. I started a year ago this week  now I'm keeping up with the faster of our club riders.

Well done on your progress
