How about 30mm Marathon Racers? They come in about 28mm in most standard road rims. I had no problem fitting these. Light, puncture proof and fast. Plus cheap here at the moment...
Me too they amazing bit heavier than the the gp4000s but ride nice and i have got one cut in the rear after 2weeks of using them, so very impressed had a few "winces" were i thought ooh shouldn't have ridden over that and only had one slight slip on a icy manhole which was tbh my own fault but so far all good :-) cant recommend enough!
I run gp4000s on the roadie and they're pretty amazing as well. Hard to choose between, I presume the 4000s is more summer biased and less grippy in the wet/cold although I've not noticed that.
We're very lucky with how tyre technology has come on
