A quick passing through a couple of my local bikeshops seems to indicate that this, which was once a standard available anywhere, is no longer so easily found. I'm looking for a 26" rim brake front wheel. Preferably hard wearing as it's on a commuter bike and gets a lot of use!

Google brings up dozens of inexpensive options...

Just enter 26" rim brake front wheel and take your pick.

We've got loads at the bike charity I'm involved with. We can't give them away. I'll admit the trend seems to be 29ers and we're seeing more 27.5's but 26's are still around and will be for many years to come I reckon. A bit like 7 speed cassettes.

Well after already offering a substantive 'answer' I'll descend to 'chat'. Is there an issue with the current one? Or is this for ice tyres?
As @Big John says, unless you feel the urge to buy new, I reckon there are a million 26" front wheels in UK which have not turned since August. I can count 10 in my shed/garage for starters (some in dropouts). Go to the 'Wanted' sub-forum and ask.

I see I've been beaten to the suggestion of Bankrupt Bike Parts. I've got wheels supplied by them which have been good. :okay:

One thing I'd add is that because of the nature of their business, the wheels tend to be new-old-stock so could have been sitting round for a while. It may be worth just refreshing the grease in the hubs before use.

Any cheap new wheels with cup and cone bearings I would check, they’re nearly all overtightened and completely dry.

I might have an outlet for seven speed freewheels/cassettes. Would your bike charity have a contact number? Feel free to Message me with it.
