I have to say my 22 year old steel framed tourer is the only bike I've ridden on FNRttC.
One day I shall MTFU and bring the (even older) steel framed fixed wheel instead.

However - for longer rides, I do appreciate the qualities of the new Ti beast, it's lighter, faster, better acceleration, and more comfortable.

my marin bear valley has been owned by me since new 1992 , only replaced chain once along with cables , have never touched any other item , it still rides as good as it did all those years ago .

must admit though did think its time for a clean and re grease of head set and bottom bracket the other day , as its not being used at all at mo it will have to wait tikk next year .

Oh Dellzegg! Perhaps it is because you have a heart of stone that you weigh more?
Walking back from town just now I spotted a Koga-Miyata in a bike rack: dripping with Dura-Ace from its downtube shifters to its toe-clips!

More dripping Dura Ace - 21 years old... PS Only has Record pedals as the DA ones weren't ARC (no float) - expensive when I started with DA toe clips, then DA Look, then had to get the Record.

I've had old steel. Frames that, despite their weight, bent like a coathanger so that the chainstays rubbed the tyre when climbing. Frames that felt like I was riding an iron girder.

But I doubt there is a soot bike with a ride better than my 653main tube/753 rear triangle mercian. It's a couple of decades old, too.

Fossyant: love the blue-on-blue fade; an English classic (not sure about the chain-rings though)!

Roadrash: that is an AWESOME bike of SERIOUS quality: I thought cable-in-frame was a much more recent development. But please, lose the pump and seat-pack: like putting a spoiler on an Aston Martin!

I've got the period paint job, but I'll have to get my forks chromed if I want to be in your gang!
