I see today's stage of Itzulia was 199.8km. 199.8? WTF. Couldn't they have thrown in an extra 200m to make it up to 200? Amateurs.

They didn't do that because they're not amateurs! Whats the significance of 124 miles anyway?

Sh1t decision for me....closed the roundabout that riders are supposed to take in the roadbook they published, then proceed to disqualify the only rider taking the route he was supposed to take.Probably had it in his head without looking up ffs...I reckon he'd have won that stage either way !
its not the first time this season that the person who went the right way and won...... didnt win ;) but at least he then won again

Interesting one. I'm glad Aranburu kept his win but all the same ...

Shouldn't on-road signage take precedence over the road book? The organisers have to be able to make last minute changes under some circumstances. (I've no idea why they changed that roundabout from the road book. Maybe no good reason. Who knows?)

If it had been better blocked off then I'd agree with you, but they left half the road open. There should also have been communication from the race radio that the layout had been changed.
I genuinely think they just bolloxed up the layout, got it wrong, rather than deliberately changed it. No reason not to take the straight route on the roundabout

Yeah, a cockup is always the likeliest explanation.

I've remembered what it reminded me of. Edvald Boasson Hagen at the tour in 2017. But there was no suggestion of going off route there. https://velo.outsideonline.com/road...asson-hagen-won-stage-19-2017-tour-de-france/

Late to watch Itzulia today but it was a quality ride by Almeida...even his descending was class.Cant see him losing a 30 second advantage on GC now.
