Depends on the finish type, and this year some cut-offs have been extended to 5km

I think 5km extension is based on the growth in road furniture in recent years, we were seeing a lot of position battles with GC riders still involved in the outskirts of towns where it was already bloody dangerous. But this season it seems like the parcours of many races should generally be taken as a suggestion rather than a mandatory route anyway....

It's OK, He didn't lose the jersey. He got same time as his group.

Whiplash for Eddie Dunbar ☹️

Following a crash on stage 5 of #TirrenoAdriatico, Eddie Dunbar was taken to hospital for further checks. X-rays ruled out any breaks but the 28-year-old has suffered whiplash and ongoing discomfort.

Following team medical advice, Dunbar will go home to rest and recover properly.

Off-topic, but does anybody else think "contusion" sounds like one of those old-timey diseases that only Victorian heroines die from, possibly whilst fainting dramatically at everybody?

Fainting is really not helpful with contusions. It's like crying in your flooded home. You're only really making matters worse. 😉
