Hang on. Wasn't the recent* reduction in the number of riders per team done (at least partly) in the name of safety?

So how do they square that with their recent SafeR measures?

I suppose more teams = more sponsors €€€ somehow and money talks.

*It feels like it was recent, but who knows. The years rush by.

I thought he'd said he wasn't planning on going to the Tour this year regardless of wildcardery. (Or have I got that wrong? Probably) Or are you referring to the Giro or the Vuelta? Or am I just confused?

My guess would be that racing bikes is what reveals that there's an issue, and that there are a load of people that could probably benefit from surgery that never really discover this because they aren't top level cyclists
