Whstva complete bollix in Portugal!
Ganna wins... in theory!

Stage one of the Volta ao Algarve has been cancelled after the sprint trains followed the deviation by the finish line. There is no stage winner.🙄

Think that's bollox to be honest , a wins a win...Chapeau Ganna !

Thats just fekin wrong, its bolox, Ganna rode all day went the right way and was first over the line, how the hell does that not make him the winner, arent they supposed to study the roadbook etc beforehand, not Ganna's fault the rest went the wrong way :cursing::cursing::cursing:

I was just watching on YT. My eyes couldn't work out what was going on at the end. Most of the peloton went behind the spectators :wacko:

From the organisers ->

The first stage was canceled after the majority of the peloton took a wrong turn just before the finish. Filippo Ganna crossed the line first, but no official results were recorded.

disrespectful to Ganna to cancel the stage
its more than disrespectful, its taking the p1ss, he did everything right and was first across the line , if that's not the very definition of winning then I dont know what is

Amazing that it doesn’t happen more often.
You often see riders go the wrong way round a roundabout, but they just lose a few places,

But the lay out of the service vehicle route was straight on, and the main course was deviated left, which suggests it was a poorly designed route with poor signage.

Its the same route they've used every year they finish in Lagos and they've managed to follow it every time, up till yesterday.

suggests the signage or barriers were set out differently this year or the marshalls were in the wrong place

to be fair Ganna didn't deserve the win, he (and the others who followed) appeared to be well back but just took the intended route
